Sence you Left this I have had an opertunity of Spakeing with Several prenseple Warrers of the Sinicas Dallaways & Shaunas all wh Made No Scruple of Confesing ye belt Menshond In Mr Mckees Intilagency & Say thet its ye Belt Given to the Waweaughtannas Last Spring by ye french offiser att ye Elinoies: they Say they Never Intended to make Warr on ye English Butt Say its full time for them to prepair to Defend themselves & thire Cuntry from us who they are (page 177) Convensd Designe to make Warr on them. they Say if we Did nott Intend that we Wold Nott prohibitt ye Sale of as much powder & Lead as wold Suply them to hunt with nor Refuse thire Warrers powder & Lead & other Nesesarys to Carey on ye Warr against ye Southern Indians thire Natural Enemys which has been an old Custom with boath English & French they seem perswaded that as Soon as we gett our prisners from them taht we will Make Warr on them wh Is Natureal aNouff as they are a peple who Neaver fergett Nor fergive they think we will act on the Same preseples & this I blive is ye Rason they have Detaind what prisners they have of ours So Long

Itt is Cartian that ye Dallaways have Received a Belt from ye Indians on Susquehanna & Sence that has ordred all thire Warrers to Stay Near there Towns to hunt this Winter and apeers More Sulky then usul to the treaders Resideing Amongst them

Itts lucky that those Indians & ye Indians over ye Lackes are Nott upon good Terms with Each other att present how ever if any of them Should brake with us itt must End in a Gineral Indian Warr with us ye Indians are a very Jelous pople Rash & Inconsideratt & Never Consider Consequences tho itt must End in there Ruen thire Expectations was Greatt from us & thire Poverty & Messerray Disposion will not Sufer them to Beer a Desapointment of that kind. they Interprett the Ginirals Frugality in Lesing ye Expence of presents in a Designe of Revenging what has past being couriousess they Deserve to be punished how itt May End ye Lord knows Butt I ashure you I am of opinon itt will Nott be Long before we Shall have Some Croyles with them I have Made us of all ye arguments I was Master of & used all ye Influence I had to perswade them that thire Jelouses & suspisions of us are Rong & ill grounded Butt itt has Nott made that Impression on there Minds wh I Could Wish, there has been a Number of Six Nation Indians heer from ye Crows Town & Made some speechess wh Capt Ecuyer will Inclose you, there is Collected att that Town this fall two Hundred Men all Senicas I will gain all ye Information I Can of ye Designs of those Indians & transmitt you, wh you will aquaint the Gineral with I Send Mr McKee in two Days to ye Lower Shaunas to Stay ye Winter I have Wrote Sr Wm & Inclosd him Mr McKees Journal who No Doubt will Send a Copy to ye Gineral
