Letter from the Compagnie des Indes to M. de Boisbriant.

22nd of December, 1725. |
It will be advisable for you to write to M. de Vincennes, (page 658) who is at the Miamis post, and request him to make arrangements with the commandant of Wabash, with respect to the Indian tribe under his charge, and to give him warning of any schemes which the English may for in that direction. The Company will beg the Comte de Maurepas to be good enough to send orders to Canada, by the first ships that leave for Quebec, with a view to instructions being given to the Sieur de Vincennes to act accordingly; and that all the other officers stationed among the Indian tribes under the jurisdiction of Canada within reach of the River Wabash may afford protection, by every means in their power, to the post which the Company is establishing there and may act in concert with the officer in command of it for the purpose of driving out any Englishmen who may make their way towards that river.
