With respect to the other tribes of the colony M. de Vaudreuil reports that the English had succeeded in inducing those in the neighborhood of the Illinois to destroy the French in that region as well as their settlements; but that the Chevalier de Bertet, who commands there, having discovered the conspiracy, had prevented its execution in such sort that it was hoped that tranquillity would soon be restored. . . .
