Sir,

I have received your letter of the 20th Instant together with Copys of Marsacs Godfroi Maisonville & Instructions, and a Copy of your letter to the Commandin offrs of the Illinois at Fort Chartres as also a Copy of the peace with the Hurons of Sandusky.- agreeable to your letter I have endeavoured to make up some Partys of Indians to send out against the Shawanese &c but to no Effect, as all the Indians at present are gone to their hunting grounds. As soon as they return, I shall use my best endeavours to send out some Partys filled out in the manner the French did,- This day Godfroi & Maisonville Set out from hence I have supply'd them with every thing that was thought necessary for the Service they are sent upon. Marsac intends to set out for the Falls of St Marry in a few days, whom I have likewise supply'd with Wampom &c He apprehends he will not be able to get farther then Saganam bay this Winter as the Season is so far advanced, & proceed to the Falls of St Marry as early as possible in the Spring. which he thinks will be time enough as the Indians will not return from their Hunting grounds before the latter end of April or begining of May, but notwithstanding. if the Weather will permit he will go on to the Falls this Winter.

The People of this Settlement that went with Capt Howard to Michilimackinac returned to this place two days ago they say that Capt Howard despairing of the arrival of the Vessell this season. He being told by One Regaume, an Inhabitant of this place, that he was very possitive that the Vessel could not reach His Post this year and therefore not to depend upon her.

Capt Howard then thought it proper to purchase all the Indian Corn he could find, and got as much as would serve the half of His Garison till the 1st of May next. & in Order to be able to keep possession of His Post He thought it advisable to Order an Offr & Fifty men to return to this place along wt the Canadians which he accordingly did & Set out from thence the 13th Instant after they had traveled two days on their way to this place they discovered the vessel & made to her. And the Offr & Fifty men returned to Michilimackinac, with the vessel and arrived there that Evening.- This Acct I had from the Canadians. Capt Howards Letters to me. The Offr carry'd back wt him, I expect the vessel from thence every day.

I am

Sir,

Your most obedient humble
Servant
