Upcoming GBL Events:

September First Thursday Trail

"What is Culture?" Activity

September 3, 2020
3pm-6pm
Arts Plaza, Indiana University Bloomington

Join IUMAA (IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology) in exploring the question “What is culture?” in a fun format that allows you to learn a little about yourself and others. The IUMAA is currently closed for renovation, but we still have ways to connect to and with the museum! The museum is dedicated to learning about and sharing the objects and experiences that make us human.

First Thursdays are outdoor festivals that showcase the diversity of arts and humanities at IU Bloomington and offer a welcoming environment for students to explore new creative outlets and engage with the work of their peers and faculty members.

Artifact Office Hours

Artifact office hours will be by appointment only beginning in January 2020, due to upcoming collections moves and building renovations. Archaeologists from the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology can be scheduled to examine archaeological artifacts. Please note that no appraisals will be given, but we are happy to work with you to identify your objects and share knowledge about Indiana’s rich cultural heritage.

Please email gbl@indiana.edu to schedule.
